Hi everyone!

I wanted to share this photo that was taken a couple weeks ago at a performance I was in, Mixed Drinks, by Philly's Dance Photographer extraordinaire, Bill H.  This man really knows how to catch some great moments!.....and yes, I wore socks like all the cool kids are doing these days.  If you follow my blog then you know that this performance randomly paired composers with choreographers.  The exciting catch being that the choreographers didn't get their music until the evening before the show.  One of the dancers did a nice write up of her experience in this process which you can view here.

I was paired with Sammy Shuster, one of the only pieces of music in the program with vocals.  I personally find music with lyrics difficult to choreograph to, so I was happy that I created the piece before I got the music.  Click here if you'd like to listen to the track.  To view more pics from the show click here.

I should be getting videos from my past two shows soon, so stay tuned!  I like to share:)

Video from Community Dance Day at JP!

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share this video from Community Dance Day at Jacob's Pillow this past summer which I was lucky enough to be a part of!  If you watch the video you'll be able to catch a few glimpses of me performing with Claire Jacob-Zysman and Dancers as well as my good friend Jason Fenton who taught a workshop in East Coast Swing.  The opening track of the video is non other than percussionist Brian Melick aka "Udu Boy" who joined CJZ and Dancers at the Pillow!  It is nice to watch this and reminisce over performing on the beautiful Inside/Out stage while it was still warm and sunny.  Happy fall and stay warm!

Hi everyone!

My new solo Hexe, that I created this past August while in residence with the NADINE Project, has been selected for the InHale Performance Series hosted by KunYang-Lin and Dancers.  This high energy piece is so much fun to perform and I am so excited to be doing it again. It also seems quite fitting to be performing it so close to Halloween!

See you there!

I am excited to be a part of Mixed Drinks, an evening of new dance and music pairings.  Each dance will pair with a 2-minute recorded work from a Philadelphia composer/sound artist, creating an hour-long performance.  Mixed Drinks will be presented as part of Point of Departure (POD),  a series of performances and workshops that will take place October 5th-21st at Christ Church Neighborhood House in Philadelphia.

"One of the central goals of the POD series is to examine how, from various departure points, both artists and audiences come together in the production arena, and what that mixing of influences provides: divergent paths, splicing of artistic ideas, and unexpected connections."

As a dancer/choreographer, it is a fun exercise to try a movement phrase out to different music and see how it effects the execution.  For this performance the choreographers won't be getting the music until the day before the show so it should be interesting to see what happens!  I can't wait to come up with my two minutes and then see what music I get!  Ahhh.....the anticipation!  This is a free one, so come check it out!
